• Don't skip the primer - When you have a big painting project ahead of you, skipping the primer is more than a little bit tempting. However, primer is very important! It not only prepares the surface for painting, but it brings out the true color of the paint you are using.
• Take the time to prepare - Painting is just one step in the process. The best way to end up with a great result is by preparing properly. Tape around outlets, windows, borders, etc., put a drop-cloth on the floor, and most importantly, fix any dents or cracks in your wall!
• Use the right tools - Just because painters are skilled, doesn't mean that they can paint clean edges by hand. They use tools to get great results, and so should you! For instance, if you want a clean edge every time, use an edge pad!
