• Use quality products - Not all paint is created equal, and there are many sub par brands out there. Cheap paint won't last as long and it won't provide coverage as effectively. In the same way, cheap brushes tend to fall apart or shed. 
• Use the right tools - Different kinds of paint require different tools. For example, when using water-based paint, you should use a brush with synthetic bristles, because they won't swell when they absorb water. When you use alkyd and oil-based paint, you can help to eliminate brush marks by using a brush with natural bristles.
