To remove or to paint over your wallpaper, that is the question.

Whether you have just moved into a new home that is equipped with outdated wallpaper or you are just ready for a change, the question to remove or to paint over your existing wallpaper is probably on your mind. There's no doubt about it, removing wallpaper can be a huge pain, and you have probably heard countless horror stories about drywall coming off or removing the first layer, only to find more layers of wallpaper underneath. That is why it is so tempting to simply paint over your wallpaper with your Modern Masters metallic paint, but there are many reasons to actually remove the wallpaper.

Why removing wallpaper is a good idea.

Although it will take a bit of time and work, removing your wallpaper is the best way to get great results. Your paint will stick to the walls much better, plus you will get a much smoother look. Because wallpaper is usually applied in rows, the seams of the wallpaper can be seen through the paint all too easily. It is also important to note that the moisture from the paint can cause the wallpaper to become looser and peel off in sections. While you may be able to get away with painting over wallpaper that is good shape, if it is loose or has holes, your best bet is just to remove it.

Now that you know why it is important to remove your wallpaper before you paint, you need to learn how to remove it! Stay tuned for our next blog to learn more.
